Some Things Don’t Change!

It’s my “in the office” day today and boy is it a doozy. It looks like nobody bothered to sort any of the mail yesterday and since Friday was a holiday, I have to do two days worth. I was hoping to leave by lunch today but that likely isn’t going to happen.

Still, have to be grateful for the chance to work. Talked to two more friends who are laid off yesterday. While much of the nation is desperately waiting for the stimulus check to come and trying to make ends meet, my stimulus check will basically just be extra money.

All of my friends will be okay, they’re just temporarily laid off until the lock down is over and will be going back to work. I’ve run across a few people on the good old internet who are using their unemployment as an excuse for their racism and ignorance which is to be expected. Can’t really feel sorry for those people. One guy was complaining that he’s 59, lost his job due to COVID, and has $100 to try to live off of. That is just a gross lack of foresight.

Anyone truly struggling during this time should take it as a lesson moving forward. Save some money. Get an education. Find a job that matters.

  1. I think the biggest lesson that people will learn is to have a backup emergency fun for unforeseen events like COVID-19.

    Yes, you’re very lucky to have a job during these difficult times. I wish I had a job… if I did I would be working overtime. Instead I’m at home twiddling my thumbs, feeling unproductive and sorry for myself. Having some kind of routine or schedule is so important these days and some days are better than others. Tbh I’m having an off day as well… slept in until 11:11! 😂

    1. I only work one day a week so for 4 days, I feel your pain lol. I was having the same problem for the first couple weeks of the shutdown but I kind of slapped myself in the face metaphorically and forced myself to set an alarm and get up like I’m going to work every day. I just ended up being super productive after doing that. The morning really is the best time of the day for me and if I miss it, I get nothing done and feel like a loser all day.

      1. My biggest struggle is falling asleep at a decent hour. It could be 3AM and I will be wide awake like an owl. 🦉 It’s annoying, especially when I have the best intentions to wake up early, but I need 8 hours of sleep. I recently resorted to a natural sleeping aid which helps 50% of the time.

        Agreed. It’s best to get work done in the morning, but I am finding it nearly impossible these days. My day starts whenever I wake up, and I now use a habit tracking list. As long as I get everything done on the list, then I have won the day. That way, I feel less guilty for sleeping in and having a messed up sleep schedule. 😓

      2. As I am finally learning, getting things done makes a world of difference! My issue was biting off more than I could chew and getting frustrated. I recently started breaking things down into bite-sized pieces which seems to be much more effective! ✨

  2. This guy sounds just like my parents. Living paycheck to paycheck without an emergency fund and, surprise, when life doesn’t go like they expect, they’re shit out of luck. And guess who gets to support them in the meantime? Hint: it’s not the government.
